Artu Peatoo is the fictional, collaborative-problem-child-artist-offspring of artists Robyn Penn and Richard Penn. Artu has developed as an independent artist with a voice quite distinct from the artistic concerns of her parents. He has worked in oils, sculpture and printmaking with an interest in political commentary as well as the decorative and sexually explicit trends in art history.
Work travels between Robyn and Richard’s studios often without the consent of either parent. Subject matter is seldom discussed, allowing for new and surprising elements to be introduced. In this way the meaning of the work is accumulated over time and through the process of borrowing and stealing.
